| An anthropomorph with a round head and uplifed arms is outlined and decorated in red pigment. A spear is piercing this figure from above. To the right of this figure are a calf deer and a deer with antlers. For American Indians the deer is a semidivine, celestial animal which is often used by shamans as a spirit helper and companion on celesial quests (Furst, P.T. 1974, p.84). This association may explain the close proximity of anthropomorphic and deer images in the rock art of Mexico. Detail of W02156. |
